Obiettivi formativi
Il corso mira a fornire una comprensione critica dell’impatto del cambiamento climatico sulla salute umana e delle strategie di mitigazione e adattamento. Vengono affrontati i principi dell’approccio One Health e le connessioni tra salute umana, animale e ambientale. Lo studente acquisirà strumenti per analizzare problemi di salute pubblica legati all’ambiente e alla sostenibilità dei sistemi sanitari.The course aims to provide a critical understanding of the impact of climate change on human health and of the related mitigation and adaptation strategies. It covers the principles of the One Health approach and the interconnections between human, animal, and environmental health. Students will acquire the tools to analyze public health challenges related to the environment and the sustainability of health systems.- Oggetto:

Modulo 1 - Climate Change, SDGs and the Climate Crisis

Questo modulo affronta le basi scientifiche del cambiamento climatico, incluse le dinamiche dei gas serra, il riscaldamento globale, i modelli climatici e i rapporti dell’IPCC. Viene inoltre analizzato il legame tra salute e gli Obiettivi di Sviluppo Sostenibile (SDG), con particolare attenzione agli SDG 3 (Salute), 13 (Azione per il clima), e le loro interconnessioni con gli SDG 6, 7, 11 e 12. Infine, il modulo introduce gli strumenti di governance globale e le principali politiche internazionali, come l’Accordo di Parigi, i vertici COP e l’agenda dell’OMS su clima e salute.
Modulo 2 - Virologia Ambientale

Questo modulo esplora il ruolo dei virus nell’ambiente, includendone l’ecologia, l’evoluzione e l’impatto sulla salute umana e animale. I temi trattati comprendono la trasmissione virale per via aerea e idrica, i serbatoi virali nella fauna selvatica e negli ecosistemi, nonché la persistenza ambientale di patogeni emergenti.
Modulo 3 - Approccio One Health

Questo modulo introduce il framework One Health come approccio multidisciplinare per comprendere e affrontare le sfide globali della salute nell’interfaccia tra esseri umani, animali ed ecosistemi.

Module 1 - Climate Change, SDGs and the Climate Crisis

This module addresses the scientific basis of climate change, including greenhouse gases, global warming, climate models, and IPCC reports. It also examines the links between health and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on SDG 3 (Health), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and their interconnections with SDGs 6, 7, 11, and 12. Finally, the module introduces global governance and key international policy instruments, such as the Paris Agreement, COP summits, and the WHO agenda on climate and health.
Module 2 - Environmental Virology

This module explores the role of viruses in the environment, including their ecology, evolution, and impact on human and animal health. Topics include waterborne and airborne viral transmission, virus reservoirs in wildlife and ecosystems, and the environmental persistence of emerging pathogens.
Module 3 - One Health Approach

This module introduces the One Health framework as a multidisciplinary approach to understanding and addressing global health challenges at the interface of humans, animals, and ecosystems.
