Summer School – Media and Democracy
 Scuola Galileiana, Università degli Studi di Padova
 June 3–6, 2025

The Summer School Media and Democracy explores the relationship between media and democratic institutions. Participants will examine how media and digital platforms influence public opinion, electoral outcomes, and democratic resilience. The program covers a broad spectrum of topics—from misinformation and algorithmic amplification to AI, and political communication—equipping students with both theoretical insights and empirical tools. Participants will engage directly with the latest methods in text and image analysis. guided by leading scholars in political economy, political science, and media studies. The school also provides an opportunity to present research projects in a stimulating environment with moments for informal exchange over a spritz and pizza in the heart of Padua.

Who can apply?
We welcome applications from students enrolled in:

• a Master’s degree program in economics, political science, or related fields, who are up to date with their exams and have a GPA of at least 27/30 (or equivalent);
• the first year of a PhD program in economics, political science, or related disciplines.

What’s covered?
 Free accommodation and meals throughout the summer school (June 2–6)
 Reimbursement of travel expenses (up to €200 for second-class train tickets via a partner travel agency)
